Starting with the official Tree City tree planting ceremony Friday morning the 24th at 9:30 at the First Congregational Church on Highland Road and ending with a seedling giveaway at Marcham Hall the Village celebrated Arbor Day 2026!
The tree planting ceremony was attended by the Roost group from the Community Nursery School which resides in the First Congregational Church. The sounds of little voices answering questions about trees and soil types increased the sweetness of the occasion. After a quick photo op (see pic below) the children helped Fred Cowett, Village Forester, fill in the soil around the tree. Afterwards Mayor Linda Woodard read the official proclamation (shown below).
Later Fred Cowett set up shop for the seedling give away out front of Marcham Hall. There was a steady stream of residents who came to take advantage and took the opportunity to catch up with neighbors while they waited in line.
All in all it was a beautiful spring day and a beautiful way to honor the conservation of our Village property. Thank you to Fred for coordinating the events of the day, enjoy the photos!
