CHFD Expands Resources to Community

Cayuga Heights Fire Department Expands Community Lifesaving Resources with Triad Grant

The Cayuga Heights Fire Department is proud to announce the recent award of a generous grant from the Triad Foundation to support the purchase of seven Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for use throughout the Village.

These AEDs will be strategically placed to maximize accessibility and rapid response in the event of a cardiac emergency. Units will be installed in Marcham Hall and deployed in Village police and Department of Public Works (DPW) vehicles, ensuring that lifesaving equipment is readily available wherever it may be needed. The department anticipates that all units will be placed into service by this summer.

Sudden cardiac arrest can occur without warning, and immediate intervention with CPR and defibrillation significantly increases survival rates. By expanding the availability of AEDs across multiple municipal touchpoints, the Village is taking an important step toward improving community safety and emergency preparedness.

In addition to this equipment upgrade, several members of the Cayuga Heights Fire Department have recently completed certification as CPR instructors. As part of this initiative, the department is launching a community-focused CPR training program. These classes will be offered to residents and organizations, providing hands-on instruction in CPR and AED use—empowering community members with the skills and confidence to act in critical situations.

The Fire Department extends its sincere gratitude to the Triad Foundation for its continued commitment to supporting first responders and enhancing public safety. This partnership allows us to better serve our community and ensure that both equipment and training are available when they matter most.
